Friedrich Adam Stumm, genannt Friedel, wurde am 2. April 1922 geboren. Er hatte noch einen jüngeren Bruder. Friedrich Stumm besuchte das Gymnasium, machte Abitur und meldete sich gleich darauf freiwillig zur Luftwaffe. Während der Besatzungszeit in Griechenland war er auf dem Flughafen in Maleme stationiert. Er fiel als Leutnant am 18. Dezember 1942 in Griechenland. Sein Flugzeug stürzte, vermutlich aufgrund von Sabotage, über Kreta ab.
Am 6. Oktober 1974, dem Tag der feierlichen Eröffnung der Kriegsgräberstätte Maleme, konnten die Angehörigen Friedrich Stumms erstmalig sein Grab besuchen. Sein jüngerer Bruder besuchte das Grab in den folgenden Jahren noch oftmals. Bei einem der Besuche, so erinnerte sich dessen Ehefrau, lernten sie einen griechischen Cafebesitzer kennen, der den Absturz des Flugzeuges als Kind 1942 beobachtet haben und im Anschluss daran zum Wrack geeilt sein wollte, wo er die Leiche Stumms entdeckt hatte.
Friedrich Adam Stumm ruht auf der Kriegsgräberstätte Maleme in Block 1, Grab 268.
