Short Biography
Franz Zimmerer wurde am 10. Februar 1918 in Kleinwallstadt am Main geboren. Am 4. April 1940 trat er seinen Dienst bei der 2. Ersatzbatterie 15 an, nach kurzzeitiger Verwendung bei der 3. Batterie leichte Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung 15 wechselte Zimmerer im September 1940 an die Fallschirmschule der Luftwaffe in Stendal. Er war der 2. Batterie Fallschirm-Artillerie-Abteilung 1 zugeteilt, die der 7. Flieger-Division unterstellt war. Bei einem Fallschirm-Einsatz während der deutschen Invasion Kretas verstarb er an einer Kopfverletzung durch Geschosssplitter bei Periwola. Am 19. April 1960 wurde er nach Maleme umgebettet und ruht dort in Block 2, Reihe 609.
