Short Biography
Horst Rimkus wurde am 5. April 1926 in Tilsit geboren. Im Herbst 1943 wurde er als SS-Panzergrenadier nach Frankreich abkommandiert. Dort wurde er während der alliierten Invasion getötet. Nach Angaben des zuständigen Oberfeldarztes erlag Rimkus am 10. August 1944 im Lazarett von Bernay seinen schweren Brustverletzungen. Am folgenden Tag wurde er zunächst in St. Desir de Lisieux beigesetzt. Seit seiner Umbettung im Jahr 1957 ruht Horst Rimkus auf dem Soldatenfriedhof in La Cambe. Die endgültige Grabstelle befindet sich im Block 18, Grab 58.
