Short Biography
Robert Wilhelm wurde am 9. Dezember 1919 geboren. Er war verheiratet und hatte eine Tochter. Während des Krieges diente er als Unteroffizier in einem Grenadierregiment in Frankreich. Sein letzter Brief an seine Frau war vom 6. August 1944. Darin teilte er ihr mit, dass sie ihre Stellung auf Höhe 112 aufgeben mussten oder, wie er es ausdrückte, "besser gesagt geflohen sind". "Du rennst, und der andere schießt, wie ein Jäger auf einen Hasen", so beschreibt er den Rückzug. Vier Tage später, am 10. August 1944, kam er bei den Kämpfen in der Normandie ums Leben. Heute ruht er auf dem Kriegsfriedhof La Cambe in Block 1, Reihe 3, Grab 91.
